The Route is King – 99.5% off-road, Isuzu track, tons of single-track, rural secondary roads and some k munching district road… There’s only about 20 km of tar (asphalt) along the entire 900 km. Joberg2c is a ride where the destination is less important than the journey. It is about the variation and beauty of this incredible country. You will ride trails never ridden and you will meet communities you would never have never known.

Joberg2c takes competitors through the country, from the heat and dust of the big city to the cool crisp air of the sea via spectacular mountainous passes. Starting in the south of Johannesburg and finishing nine days later at Umdoni Park golf Club on the KwaZulu-Natal coast. Our aim is to provide a world-class mountain bike ride that is truly uplifting. Not only will passionate mountain bikers ride the off-roads less travelled and trails never travelled through South Africa, they will also know that all our communities who host our race villages and water points are being uplifted at the same time.
From Day one, this has been the Joberg2c promise: the route is king! Riders of Joberg2c are privileged enough to ride through some of the most spectacular rural lands that South Africa has to offer. Riders traverse four provinces in nine scenically different days; from the rocky highveld of Gauteng to the dry grasslands of the Free State to the spectacular descent down the Drakensberg into Kwa-Zulu Natal, back up into the mist belt of Nottingham Rd which finally navigates through the breathtaking Umkomaas valley to the sea! Nine days and 900 km is no ride in the park. Riders put their bodies and minds to the test in a grueling adventure through the heart of South Africa.
Arriving at the finish on the beach becomes both a physical and emotional triumph. Joberg2c is the longest fully serviced stage ride in the world! There are sections of the route which make Joberg2c spectacular, and reason enough to ride. From the Vaal crossing on boats, to the highest point on Mt. Paul, descending the escarpment via Great Wall My China to the historic Spioenkop Mountain. From the moment you embark from Heidelberg your every need is taken care of. From tented accommodation and all your meals to hot showers, beers and free Seattle Coffee to name but a few, you only need pedal from village to village.
